Practical guide
Build an HTTP request in your browser and inspect its status, exposed response headers and body. It is useful for public APIs that allow cross-origin access. Requests go directly to the destination server you enter.
How to use it
- Enter a complete http:// or https:// URL and choose a method.
- Optionally provide headers as a JSON object and a body for POST, PUT or PATCH.
- Send the request and inspect the response. Cancel if it takes too long.
Example
To try a JSON endpoint, choose POST, set Content-Type: application/json and use {"name":"demo"} as the request body.
What to know
Browser CORS and mixed-content rules apply. An endpoint can work from curl yet block the browser response. Avoid pasting production secrets into an untrusted endpoint or shared computer.
Common question
Why does curl work but this page fails?
Command-line curl is not subject to browser CORS. The server must allow requests from this site’s origin.
